ERTMS ( (European Rail Traffic Management System) Simulation Platform
The ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) simulation platform consists of 3 systems that can operate alone or in combination:
. a driving simulator consisting of a driving console, which can be combined with a 3D line display ;
. a traffic simulator serving as a central station for rail traffic control and train management ;
. an ERTMS on-board equipment test bench.
The entire platform complies with the ERTMS "baseline 2" system specifications available on the European Railway Agency (ERA) website.
The simulator can be used to certify on-board calculations. This simulator enables the link to be made between a technological environment and the humans who use it: we can play either the role of the driver, or the role of the control agent in the station.

The platform in detail
The research equipment is currently used in two major scientific themes: virtual certification and safety studies validating the behavior of various technical objects, even a human operator in an ERTMS context.
The UTC (Technological University of Compiègne) uses this simulator for the ERTMS course of the Railway Master. An ERTMS course (8h), followed by a series of practical exercises on simulators (12h) provide a first level of ERTMS competence.
