    The bench for measuring skid resistance and surface characteristics (BMACS) was created in 2000. It has a set of test equipment dedicated to the study of surface topography and tribology applied to transport . Its main field of application is the contact between tires and various types of surfaces (road pavements, aeronautical runways, metro rails, etc.).

    Sense-City is a full-scale experimental space in representative and controllable physical conditions, dedicated to the study of micro urban areas with a high concentration of innovations. As a true open-air laboratory or under controlled conditions, this space integrates a mobile climatic chamber that can cover two 400 m² zones. This platform is open to academics, industry and local authorities and contributes to the positioning of the Cité Descartes as a flagship centre for the city of the future.

    Platform for measuring pollutants from light road vehicles

    The platform created in the eighties on the site of Université Gustave Eiffel Bron allows the measurement of pollutant emissions in the exhausts of light vehicles as well as the energy consumption. The measurements are possible on a simulation bench or in real conditions on the road thanks to an on-board system. This platform was co-financed by the Gustave Eiffel University, the AURA region (AAP IRICE) and ADEME.

    The dynamic engine test bench enables steady-state and dynamic tests to be carried out to evaluate the consumption and pollutant emissions of conventional or hybrid engines. It offers a unique combination of a dynamic engine test bench that allows the engine under test to be driven at different speeds, and a driving simulator that reproduces the virtual environment of the vehicle operated by a real driver.

    The "Parc Auto" longitudinal survey is carried out each year since 1984 by Kantar and Université Gustave Eiffel. It describes the car equipement and use of cars by housholds. The survey feeds the most complete database on the topic which is used in numerous researches. Data are not public and rights of use are strictly reserved.

    Unique at the European level, the site is intended for the application of methods of locating buried objects under perfectly controlled conditions: the surrounding soils are well identified and carefully compacted for their stability over time, the objects - various pipes, rocks, cavities, masonry - are perfectly located in a local geodetic reference. This makes it possible to reveal the performance of methods and equipment, to develop them, to provide data for testing or calibrating numerical models.

    Emissions measurement platform

    The purpose of the emission measurement platform is to characterise the dynamics of emissions as well as their physico-chemical nature. The pollutants considered are regulated and non-regulated compounds (heavy metals, rare earths, hydrocarbons, organic micropollutants) emitted in gaseous or particulate phase. The scientific objective of the measurements is to better understand how emissions evolve according to vehicle driving and use, regulations, and modern emission reduction devices.

    The fatigue carousel, a large accelerated test facility on pavements, enables real structures to be tested under the loads of heavy vehicles. Its performance (120 m long track, loading speed of up to 100 km/h) makes it one of the largest facilities of its kind in the world.

    Located on the Cité Descartes campus in Champs-sur-Marne, the "Radiation and Propagation" platform addresses phenomena related to the propagation of radio waves in free space or in circuits and transmission lines. As an essential support for R&D, it offers trainers, researchers and industrial partners the means for rapid prototyping, simulation and electromagnetic characterisation of materials, antennas and, more generally, communicating systems.

    Federative platform of microtomographic imaging for the analysis of materials and structures under multi-physical stresses

    The central element of the platform hoded by Ecole des Ponts - Paristech, is a microtomograph that allows three-dimensional imaging of samples by X-ray absorption constrast. Its particular design, unique at the time of its commissioning in 2011, allows to observe on a wide range of scales the microstructures of very diverse materials and their evolution under stress.

    The cable fatigue bench is a unique equipment that allows to perform real capacity tests on civil engineering cables or technical systems with cylindrical geometry (cables and anchors of bridges, off-shore installations). These tests are necessary for the validation of any innovative technical solution and ensure the durability and integrity of the product when subjected to real operating constraints such as static tension, cyclic force variation, tensile and bending forces.
