Material and structural testing facilities
The structural testing platform, or test slab, is a remarkable facility for conducting research into the safety and serviceability of bridges and major civil engineering and building structures. The experiments carried out here guide or validate modeling and calculation methods adapted to the non-linear behavior of materials and structures. They are an effective means of analyzing pathologies and mechanical malfunctions in certain structures, and of validating repair techniques. They are also an essential step in validating technical innovations or the use of new materials in structures.

The platform in detail
Our facilities are dedicated to materials and structures testing for Civil and Urban engineering. Concrete solutions are mostly (mainly?) investigated (reinforced and prestressed concrete, fiber concrete, including UHPFRC); however, other construction techniques can be studied: steel, masonry, composites, wood, alternative materials, etc.). Simultaneously (at the same time?) we are developing modelling and engineering approaches to validate innovative construction solutions or to help for ageing structures management.
Practical exercices with the engineering schools Ecole des Ponts Paritech, ESIEE Paris-Université Gustave Eiffel, etc.;
Characterisation of the mechanical behavior of materials and structures in civil engineering, auscultation techniques, concrete pathologies (from the specimen to the structure), validation of projects in the context of engineering/architectural training, etc.;
Content of introductory research courses (e.g.: the Diploma of Research of ESIEE);
Internships, doctorates.
The facilities are used for research purposes and expert investigations; in this context, we collaborate frequently with structures owners, Civil Engineering companies, consulting companies, etc.
