Detailed view

Semi-anechoic room for acoustic analysis

Named "Marin Mersenne" after a philosopher, mathematician, scientist and music theorist who was the first to measure the speed of sound in the air around 1630, this equipement on the UMRAE site in Nantes contributes to the development of scientific knowledge in the field of acoustic propagation in the environment. The semi-anechoic room is an acoustic test room, allowing in particular to carry out acoustic measurements in urban models, to develop acoustic measurement devices, to characterize the acoustic emission of noise sources, to calibrate measurement systems...This room is characterized by a very high level of isolation (very low background noise level) and by a specific interior treatment allowing to simulate the propagation in open field.
