Stereopolis
The IGN's Stereopolis vehicle, designed for the automatic acquisition of geo-referenced 3D imagery in urban canyons, is equipped with a set of cameras and scanning lasers that allow for a 3D reconstruction of the territory covered.
This mobile mapping vehicle has enabled the IGN to position itself as a major player in this technology, which is still not widely used. It has enabled us to conduct experiments in many French territories and to initiate cooperation with local authorities. The type of data collected (images and georeferenced point clouds acquired at the level of the urban canyon) has served as the basis for numerous research projects of the Matis laboratory and has fed several important research projects such as the FUI TerraMobilita project and the ANR iTowns, Platinum and BIOM projects.

The platform in detail
Stereopolis allows the acquisition of image data and georeferenced point clouds at the level of the urban canyon, in support of all research using these data. These data are essential in order to improve the level of detail of the city modeling, and the current transition from 2.5D to 3D representations.
Professional licenses of the ENSG-Géomatique (National School of Geographic Sciences): Practical work on data acquisition and processing chain.
Mobile mapping acquisitions performed for several local governments.
